I'm Simon Thompson, a Group Commander in Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue service and I aim to complete 44597 press up's by the 4th May 2021. 44597 is the total number of uniformed and support staff that work in the various fire and rescue services in England. The 4th May is an important date for firefighter's as it is firefighter memorial day. To complete this, with allowing myself a rest day each week, I will aim to complete 340 press up's each day.
I have worked for the fire service for 16 years and in that time I have personally experienced and seen the incredible levels of support the firefighter's charity can offer.
The Fire Fighters Charity offers specialist lifelong support for members of the UK’s fire services community, empowering individuals to achieve mental, physical and social wellbeing throughout their lives.
Whatever their reason for coming to the Charity – whether they are injured, recovering from an illness, suffering from stress or anxiety – their teams take the time to understand each person’s mental, physical and social needs.
Thereafter, the Charity works with each of its beneficiaries to design a pathway of support that could include community-based support, further advice and information, a stay at one of its residential centres or a combination of options. The aim, however, is always the same; to help people move forward positively in their lives.
