Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving Page. In
2014 I raised funds for Diabetes UK by doing the Virgin Cyclone 100km Ride and this money was subsequently invested at Newcastle University in diabetes research on the impact of low calorie diets. That project seems to have been a major success, featuring on national TV and showing that in some cases Type 2 diabetes can be reversed.
In 2018, as part of keeping fit and controlling my own diabetes I decided I needed a challenge so I have created Priestley's Personal Triathlon
via Diabetes UK Challenges. So I shall be doing the Cyclone Cycling 50km, The Million Step Challenge and finally the Great North Run. The first event is the cycle on June 30th so preparation’s well underway. Will I complete them all; well there’s the challenge.
We are all aware that diabetes is on the increase and affecting younger and younger people. Someone is diagnosed with diabetes every 2 minutes. Diabetes UK is been excellent in campaigning, supporting individuals and their families and funding fundamental research. So alongside getting fitter I want to raise funds for the charity so that they can continue their work. Any support that you can give will be gratefully received.
