Fundraising for Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On Saturday 11th May I will be walking 10k on the South Downs in memory of my cousin Paul White, who died suddenly in September last year after a short illness. He was only 51 years old, his life taken away by Pancreatic Cancer. He has left behind his wife and their two young sons. My wife, son and daughter along with my brother, cousins and other family members (age range 6-80years) are joining together to raise money via this walk, for the Pancreatic Research Fund.
Pancreatic Cancer is the fifth most common cause of cancer death and has the highest death rate of all. There is no early detection and treatment is limited.Because symptons are initially vague and generally do not appear until the disease is well advanced, the average survival time after diagnosis is 6 months. This is what happened to my cousin Paul. Despite this, research is underfunded compared with other types of cancer. We are therefore endeavouring to raise money for the Pancreatic Research Fund, to help it advance understanding and early detection of this form of cancer.
