Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I lost my father to Alzhiemer's disease in 2016. I ran an emotional London Marathon for ARUK the same year. The support from friends, family and Alzhimer's Research UK was fabulous. My chance to return for a second time has come but with a twist...

I have always wanted to run the London Marathon in fancy dress. Not just a cape, tutu and funny wig but a proper costume. The team at ARUK have found me the perfect outfit...Big Ben!

The Big Ben costume was run in by Lukas in 2019 for ARUK. It was famously stolen outside of a London pub after the event. Piers Morgan raised awareness of the missing landmark and donated £1000 to charity on it's safe return to ARUK.

Well, the time has come for Big Ben to run the streets of London again in the world greatest marathon! This time, I will be stuck sweating inside the clock tower!

We all know that dementia is a chronic debilitating condition. It destroys not only memory but your ability to do daily functions we take for granted. 1 in 14 adults over 65 and 1 in 6 over 80 years old have the condition. Research is crucial in fighting the disease. ARUK is the leading charity driving pioneering research to find treatments with over 2000 UK based researchers.

I am so up for this challenge and want to raise as much money as possible for a worthy charity. I'll need your support to get Big Ben around the course and anything you can donate to help ARUK is grateful received.

Thanks, Simon
