Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. With the charity sector - like many others - enduring a very challenging time due to the coronavirus crisis, I was keen to do something to help.
Last year I completed a 55-mile bike ride from London to Brighton, so this year I thought I'd try walking the same distance, albeit over a completely different route, in a single day.
So on Father's Day, I'll attempt to walk nearly three times as far as I've ever walked before in the hope of raising some money for Arthritis Action since my late dad was a long-term arthritis sufferer.
I'll set off from Eastbourne Town Hall at the sunrise time of 4.46am and aim to return there for the finish in time for sunset at 9.16pm.
The route will take in Pevensey Bay, Cooden Beach, Bexhill-on-Sea, St Leonards, Hastings, Westfield, Sedlescombe, Battle, Crowhurst, Sidley and Little Common before returning to Eastbourne.
Along the way I'll pass a number of the football and cricket grounds that I used to frequent during my sports reporting days - exactly 51 weeks since leaving my local newspaper.
