Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Lune Street Methodists have a proud history of helping the poor and disadvantaged, from Prestonians brought to their knees by the lack of work during the 19th Century Cotton Famine, to soldiers during the WW1 and refugees fleeing the fighting in 1940. Over the last 40 years we have been helping serve the growing number of homeless people in Preston, through the provision of a soup kitchen, drop in centres, emergency accommodation and follow up support. The Fox Street Community provides 20 beds for people to stay in to adjust from living on the streets to living on their own. Of the 47 clients welcomed since April, 2017, 66% have moved on successfully, and 17% have engaged in further training or education.
However, cuts to the local funding budget are threatening the community with a shortfall of over £40,000. This is why I am going to spend my night sleeping out on the hard, cold and possibly wet steps of the church to raise awareness of the difficulties faced and the funding needed.
Please can you help in any way possible to pick away at this sad and depressing short fall. As they say, every little helps.
