Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Firstly a big thank you to those of you who have so far kindly sponsored me in my recent and forthcoming Cycling endeavours, those of you who may still be thinking about it or waiting for my return report on Leg 1 – here it is and now is the time to send me your donations for our very worthy causes….If you wish to make a donation and have not yet ...then please do so NOW!!
A brief synopsis of what took place last week in Corsica and Sardinia:
· 520 miles covered in the 7 days
· Over 13,000 m of ascents (that’s over 42,650 ft- higher than Everest!!)
· One particular climb was from sea level and then 25 miles of uphill!!
· Average temperatures throughout the event hovered around 30°C and very little shade….
One unfortunate incident (no vehicle or other riders involved) saw one of our party thrown from his bike head first onto the road at 25 mph plus….he has head injuries and is still in hospital in Sardinia unconscious a week after the incident …our thoughts are very much with him and his family and we are all praying that he comes out of it OK. He was wearing a cycling helmet (as we all do) which undoubtedly saved his life – so if you’re a cyclist please make sure you wear one!
As you know our principal Charities this year are Cancer Research Campaign & British Heart Foundation plus some more local worthy causes – I will keep you all posted as to how we get on and on our Friend’s recovery….
