Story
In January this year I turned 50, and I decided that this year I was going to do a few of the things on my "bucketlist" - you can call it a "mid life crisis" if you want - that's fine by me!
So in 2012 I have cycled up hill and down dale, in May I cycled the Fred Whitton (the "daddy" of cyclosportives), in June I cycled from Paris to Nice in 7 days, and from September 8th to 16th I am going to cycle from Lands End to John O Groats (LEJOG).
To get a bit fitter, I have suffered many an hour hearing classic music tracks of my youth being "murdered" by various of todays "musicians" while spinning at Banatynes Gym.
While at Banatynes I first heard about Cumbria Wheelchair Sports Club, which is run and supported by some of my fellow "spinners". I would really like to raise some money for this club which is a real "grass roots" organisation set up only 2 years ago, and now doing so much good for so many people who arent as lucky as most of us. The club provide a multitude of wheelchair sports - check out their website - http://cumbriawheelchairsports.moonfruit.com They are run entirely by volunteers, with no overheads, and any money that you are able to spare will go directly to them - and straight to benefit the club by helping them to provide facilities for Boccia which is a fantastic activity for those with more severe disabilities - http://www.gb-boccia.org/page.asp?section=23§ionTitle=About+Boccia
I know that times are really hard at the moment , and that we all get lots of requests like this, however I have been totally inspired by both the members and the people who run Cumbria Wheelchair Sports Club.
Believe me cycling LEJOG will be a "piece of cake" compared to the challenges they face!
Thanks for reading all this, I do hope that you are able to help.
