The number of people diagnosed with cancer is growing, we're doing whatever it takes to help more people with cancer get the best care the UK has to offer, whoever and wherever they are. To donate, volunteer, raise money or campaign with us, call 0300 1000 200 or visit macmillan.org.uk

Story

Thanks for supporting our fundraising. My son Oli and I are attempting this challenge for many reasons. Both of my parents died from lung cancer and needed palliative support. We would like to recognise this by helping an organisation that provides these services, allowing people to stay in their own homes for much longer than they might otherwise have done. Macmillan provides a wide range of services to help people through very difficult times so we would like to help them to help others.

Now that my son is 18, he will soon be leaving home to pursue a career in engineering and so this trip likely represents an important opportunity for us to 'bond' whilst enjoying some real Bond locations! This is an endurance rally taking in 8 countries, reaching several of 007's iconic settings and many mountain passes. A total of 1800 miles!

We are attempting this journey in our 1986 Lotus Esprit, a car model made famous by the 007 films 'The Spy Who Loved Me' and 'For Your Eyes Only.' Unfortunately, these cars are also well known for being less than 100% reliable, thus making this a real challenge to complete. We will be camping along the way and with luggage space at a premium, will have to travel light.

Our team name is "The Petrol Suits" (can you see what we've done there?) and we are self funding and so hoping to raise as much as possible for Macmillan.

Please give as much as you are able and we will hopefully complete the journey having raised a healthy amount.

We would like to dedicate this mission in memory of John and Sallie Lewthwaite.
