Story
Firstly thanks for getting here and taking the time to look and hopefully donate to this worthy cause.
So what's it all about? Well on May 14th I will run the Gutersloh half marathon blindfolded in support of St Dunstans, a charity that provides life long support to blind and visually impaired ex-sereviceman & women.
Hopefully we will raise over £500.00 for the charity which will assist in the purchase of vital equipment.
£30.00 will buy a talking watch.
£50.00 will buy a scanner that converts documents so that they can be reas by a computer.
£100.00 will buy a talking keyboard so a bloind person can use a computer.
These are just a few examples of how your money will help the charity and the people it helps.
So whos Mac? Well Mac is my eyes. During the marathon Mac will be there to guide me make sure that I take the right route and get through the challenges that lay ahead. Thank you Mac.
I will also be supported by members from 4 (Overseas) Air Training Corps Squadron who will be running with me in groups and will be my 'body guards' again thank you.
I also have to say thank you to members of the 1 LSR AGC detachment who are also supporting me in the event. Also a big thank you to Capt Christy and his team for organising the half marathon itself.
So what is Gutersloh half marathon? The Gutersloh hal marathon is an annual event organised by 1 Logistic Support Regiment RLC who are based in Princess Royal Barracks, Gutersloh. They use this event to raise money for charity from the proceeds of entry fees and sponsorship. This year the event is raising money for the Gutersloh Soup Kitchen and SSAFA. So if based in Germany why not come along and support these other worth while causes.
Well I think thats enough from me, I will however update the site with photos and videos from the training sessions and the actuall event. So please support if you can - no amount is too small. Again thank you for visiting this site.
Simon, Mac and all members of 1 LSR AGC detachment
