Story

Well, here we are AGAIN! I know I said that 2021 would be my last London Marathon. But as you all know, I have run the previous ten marathons in memory of my late father, Tom Howarth. As 2022 marks 30 years since he passed away, I could not let the opportunity to raise more funds and mark the occasion pass me by.

Over the years, I have run in various costumes; from giant Emoji outfits and heart costumes - and several times with 100s of Heart balloons. But this year, I am going to keep it simple: no gimmicks, just me - running in memory of my Dad. So no excuses for taking my time (but I still may take my time to enjoy the course..)!

I can't express how much me and my family still miss our Dad, and wish he was around to see how all of his children have grown up, not to mention his many grandchildren and even a great grandchildren! And our Mum, (Christine), I know would also give anything to spend just one more day with him.

So let's try and raise as much as possible to make stories as devastating as that of my family's  a thing of the past.

With all your help, my fundraising (and the outfits!) have helped me to raise in excess of £20,000 over the years. This will have helped the vital work that the BHF do in regards to research, support for those suffering from heart conditions, and also supporting the grieving family members left behind when a loved one passes.

I really hope you will be as generous this year as you have always been (even though I won't be wearing a silly costume or carrying 100 heart balloons this time!).

Thanks for reading and for all your support over the years. It means the absolute world.

Lots of love,

Simon

Thanks for visiting my page. I'm raising money for the British Heart Foundation and I'd be so grateful for your support. The BHF has helped halve the number of people dying from heart and circulatory disease in the UK but sadly every day hundreds of people lose their lives. It's only thanks to support from people like us that the BHF can create new treatments and discover new cures. £24 could pay for two hours of research by an early career scientist, but every pound helps so please give what you can to help me hit my target. Thanks!
