We stand for everyone affected by dementia to find a cure

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. Unfortunately many will have personal stories of the impact of dementia, each tragic. Here are some figures to show how prevelant it is. Alzheimers Research is working to reduce that for each of us and our loved ones.

Globally, the numbers of people living with dementia will increase from 50m in 2018 to 152m in 2050, a 204% increase.

The cost of dementia in the UK is expected to more than double in the next 25 years, from £26bn to £55bn in 2040.

1/4 of hospital beds are occupied by people living with dementia who are over 65.

Around 95% of all cases of dementia are due to Alzheimer’s disease, vascular dementia, dementia with Lewy bodies and frontotemporal dementia.

People living with dementia often have other comorbidities and therefore have complex needs
