Story
Hello. My name is Simon Green. On September 8th I will competing in my wheelchair and attempting to do the New Forest Marathon. Then on October 6th I will be taking part in the Bournemouth Marathon. At beginning of May I did the Wales Marathon, I said I would never do it again but hey ho !!
Throughout August I will also be completing in four 10ks and a Half Marathon.
Why am I doing this! Well just over two years ago a young women, Helen Fincham woke up with a stiff neck and then was soon paralysed. An infection in spine took away her mobility.
She spent a year in Rockwood Rehabilitation Hospital and got some movement back in her arms but the rest of her body is still paralysed and she needs help to do almost everything.
Originally I was competing in the above events to help fund a trip to Oman that Helen was offered to help improve her mobility. This offer came after I took Helen to Royal Garden Party and we spoke with Prince Charles.
Sadly Helen went to Oman but has returned after just two weeks as treatment was sadly of little help. We, especially Helen are devastated by this.
But all the money I raise, and has already been donated will still go towards assisting Helen as she now hopes to have treatment locally. Intensive physio is what she needs and to get the best she has to travel across to England and the NHS will not pay.
So the treatment has to be paid for, it would be great if extra more specialist treatment and physio can help Helen get some mobility back so please donate what you can.
All monies donated via this page will go towards Helen's treatment and any rehab. Many has already been donated via another page, if more money than Helen needs is raised via here (that would be great) this will be gifted back to Bridgend Coalition of Disabled People.
