Story
8 weeks today (on my 43rd birthday no less) I will be running the Asda Foundation York marathon 2021. Running this marathon started off as a personal challenge to myself and should have been completed last year. However in the 12 months since signing up it has turned into an opportunity to raise money for a charity that is very close to home and one that we will require lots of support from for the foreseeable future. Our lovely Bill has been struggling with his energy for the last 2 1/2 years and earlier this year we found out that Bill has Mitochondrial disease. Please go to the Lily Foundation website (https://www.thelilyfoundation.org.uk) for more information. We are starting to come to terms with the ups and downs and challenges that this journey will provide. We (as a family) are staying positive, making sure we have lots in life to enjoy and be grateful for, we are filling our diary and building happy memories. The Lily Foundation funds research into Mitochondrial disease which is a progressive disease, currently with no cure. We would be really grateful if you could show your support and donate so the charity can continue to support families like ours. X
The Lily Foundation was founded in Lily's memory, having lost her battle to Mitochondrial Disease at just eight months old. The charity aims to give hope, answers and support to the many other children and families that face the challenges of this disease today.Did you know every twenty minutes a child is born who will develop Mitochondrial Disease by the age of 16! There is no cure for this disease which is for many, debilitating and life limiting. Please stand with us and fight Mitochondrial Disease and fight for hope.
