Story
At 6am on Saturday 10th September I will be starting my first ever ultra marathon, a 47 mile (75k) lap of Lake Windermere in Cumbria. This is an organised ultra event which allows up to 500 competitors and runs twice a year, once clockwise and once anti-clockwise. As if the distance isn’t bad enough it also involves 2500m of elevation.
Although I am a regular runner and have been for some years, I have never run more than 20 miles in one go and almost all of my running is on-road, whereas most of this event will be off-road which is a very different challenge.
I am a hoping to raise a bit of money for Dove House Hospice. I picked them because I recently witnessed first hand the compassion and quite frankly super-human approach they gave to someone very dear to me. Even if you can only manage a fiver (I know we are in a cost of living crisis!) it will help them to continue helping others. If you sponsor me I promise I won’t give up and even if I have to crawl over the finish line at 23 hours 59 minutes (there is a 24h window) I’ll finish it!
