Sam Thorp was my wife's dearest friend, and sadly left us in January this year, after a shocking 18 month battle against cancer.

It is quite something to watch someone younger than yourself be put into the ground, and quite another to see the look on their loved-one's faces as it happens.

All I can do is try to raise some money, in Sam's memory.

So I shall be pedalling the streets of London in August, and all I can guarantee is that I'll push myself harder than I've ever done before...

It still pales into insignificance in comparison.....
