Story
Hi!
As some of you may be aware because I have waxed on incessantly about it, I have been on a major health kick to rediscover my younger halcyonic years as a rower in aid of being less of the cliche boozing and puffed out lawyer. I am discovering very quickly that the transition from runner/rower to cyclist is a painful one but hey, at least I get to eat even more pasta and buy a new bike which is so very pretty!
Now, please kindly focus on the reason for my harrasing you all for your hard earned money (it's not really harrassment as I stop short of any 'continuing course of conduct', take that Met Police!):
Astriid is a unique and vital charity that helps people with long term chronic illness find meaningful work. It understands that the value of work goes far beyond the wages that are paid - work provides routine, challenge, self-belief and ultimately the strength of hope.
Astriid help to bridge the gap between the 'Invisible Talent Pool' (i.e. the cadre of people who have long term chronic illness but who still wish to use their skills and experience in work) and the UK skills crisis.
Sadly we have all seen loved ones fight illnesses only to lose their sense of self. Please help me meet my funding target and in return I promise to put my all into training and completing the tour to raise awareness for Astriid's hard work so you can feel proud of having supported us.
Thanks very much to all of you - I owe you a pint/vino/protein shake (never the three shall meet).
SCC.
PS I will add photos of me looking haunted in lycra in training sessions as and when.
