Story
I am raising money for Cancer Research. I lost my Dad in 2013, when he was just 67 to lung cancer. I wanted to raise money for cancer research, to show my gratitude for the support Dad received and to support scientific research. I qualified as a yoga teacher in 2019 and wanted something different, outside my comfort zone, as the means to fund raise. In researching options, I discovered this event which appeared as challenging as it gets. When Dad was growing up, he and his brothers had to box and he hated it. He was apparently very good, I was a complete beginner. I started doing box fit and decided it was the perfect challenge.
I started an 8 week intensive training period, training for Cancer Research - White Collar Boxing tournament in Spring 2020 which was cancelled due to Covid. As I had signed up, already raised some sponsorship, when the event returned for an event night of Saturday 23 April 2022 at Thornbury Leisure Centre, I felt duty bound to sign up again. So here goes with the next round in this challenge. I do feel fitter and better prepared this time round and have watched lots of technique videos. I have realised though that I don't like being hit, but even more, I have no desire to hit anyone else. The yogi rather than the boxer is strong in me. The coming weeks will be challenging.
Any sponsorship would be gratefully received.
