Story
We are once again entering a team in the Radio Clyde Cash For Kids charity kart race, held annually at the Scotkart racetrack - at Clydebank again. This will be the 12th year that SimeRacing have supported the fantastic charity and specific event!
The race takes the form of a Le Mans style relay race, with each team having up to 5 drivers and the race lasting for 2 hours. The winner is the team with the kart completing the most laps, or out in front at the chequered flag.
Whilst we will be trying to raise lots of money for a deserving "local" charity and enjoying taking part - make no bones about it, we will be trying to come in first once again, especially as we finished a close 2nd last year, we want to regain our title!
The team this year comprises of Chris Knox (currently racing in USA and former Champion in the British Mini Cooper Championship), Barry Sime (Former Clio, Formula Renault racer & multiple Scottish Karting Champion), Rory Pringle who is a very successful kart racer, who is looking to move into car racing, and new for 2012 impressive young kart racer Glen Fraser.
All in all a wealth of experience in motorsport events, which we may try and use to our advantage against some equally impressive other competitors. (We may take this much more seriously than we should though!)
We would be grateful for your kind donations as every penny raised goes directly towards Cash For Kids, with Scotkart kindly donating their premises and karts for free. As an added incentive, the grid positions are decided by how much money each team raises... Each of the team members must raise at least £125 each also, so we are aiming for a bit over the minimum, which we will all personally top up also.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor us: Radio Clyde Cash for Kids gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
So please sponsor us now and make sure you tune into Clyde 1 and Clyde 2 on the evening of the event and on Monday 12th November to find out how we did, or check out www.simeracing.co.uk .
