Newsflash!!
We Won! We raised the most amount of money out of all the teams - a whopping £1090 now - so many thanks to all of you for all your kind and generous donations - This meant we started on pole and fluctuated between 1st and 2nd the whole 75 minute race. Kenny went first, putting in some blistering early laps, then Chris and finally Barry, who managed to overtake the leaders again on the last corner of the last lap to win by 0.2 of a second!!!
A fantastic result, fantastic fun and most importantly the event raised over £10,000 for Cash for Kids!
We are once again entering a team in the Radio Clyde Cash For Kids charity kart race, held annually at the Scotkart racetrack in Cambuslang.
The race takes the form of a Le Mans style relay race, with each team having 3 drivers and the race lasting for 75 minutes. The winner is the team with the kart completing the most laps, or out in front at the chequered flag. Last year saw the closest ever finish with the top three covered by just over a second - our team was third, but we are hungry to climb onto the top step this year!
The team comprises of Chris Knox (3rd 2008 Scottish Mini Cooper series and multiple karting winner), Barry Sime (Former Clio and Formula Renault racer & multiple Scottish Karting Champion) and Kenneth Thirwall (again a multiple Scottish Karting champion and second in the Scottish Mini Cooper series for the last 2 years) - so all in all a fair bit of experience within the team!
We would be grateful for your kind donations as every penny raised goes directly towards Cash For Kids, with Scotkart kindly donating their premises for free. As an added incentive, the grid positions are decided by how much money each team raises... Each of the team members must raise at least £100 each also, so we are aiming for a bit over the minimum, which we will all personally top up also.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor us: Radio Clyde Cash for Kids gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
So please sponsor us now and make sure you tune into Clyde 1 and Clyde 2 on the evening of the event and on Dec 2nd to find out how we did, or check out www.simeracing.co.uk .
