Story

This is a photo of my son Luciano and me in Primrose Hill taken by my nephew Lucky recently.

Luciano, 23 years old, has been treated since january for a Hodgkin's lymphoma that has proved to be quite resistant to chemotherapy. He has participated very actively in his illness; from the onset through some very debilitating treatments with a lot of courage and integrity. A real example to me and to all the people who know him.

I will be taking part on the 20 mile Maggie's Night Hike for his full recovery.

I will also walk in memory of two lovely people who marked my life: Nicky Miller and David Blanchard.

A little story about Maggie.

' Maggie had an idea. She didn´t like hospitals. Endless corridors, overhead strip lighting, miserable seating with no views out, not even a kettle in a waiting room. No. Those things make even the hopeful wilt '

A diagnosis of cancer hits you like a punch in the stomach. Fear takes over. You don't know how to cope, how to access information, where to go to get ongoing support.

Maggie recognised those difficulties. She knew them only too well. When she was diagnosed, Maggie thought there should be a special place for everyone living with cancer where you could learn to feel less stressed, learn about your cancer, take stock, or just talk to someone in the same boat. No appointments, No bill at the end. Free.

Those places exist now. They are simply called "Maggie's".

They are open to everyone affected by cancer and all their services are free.

1 in 3 of us will face a cancer diagnosis in our lifetime. The need for Maggie's is now. Please sponsor me and help them to build more centres and support more people affected by cancer.

I took Luciano to the London Maggie's Centre and we were nicely surprised to find such an inviting and welcoming place. Magic!!!!!!!!

Unfortunately it is too far from home. London is a massive place. The need for more centres is vital.

I thank you in advance for your sponsorship.
