THE QUEST FOR THE SILVER SOVEREIGN, 1 February 2022
REQUEST FUND
Campaign by Kent Scouts (RCN 303471)
This is the legacy fund set up by the Kent Scouts REQUEST2021 Antarctica Project in 2021 to extend our educational outreach activities about Antarctica as well as to support more Scouts & Guides to do polar research and expeditions.

Story

Take part in the Quest and help us to inspire more young people in Scouting to keep up the important work on Peace, Environment and Heritage lessons to be learned from the polar regions.

A warm welcome to all our new Treasure Questers and a welcome back to previous Questers who are back again for more “torture”!

Just like last year you get to have a go at all the questions for the whole month for your once-off entry donation of £5 or more.

Your Quest will take you back through history over the last 500 years! During your Quest you will visit the reigns of all the sovereigns between HENRY VII AND ELIZABETH II.

Every cryptic clue involves an anagram or two and Sir Graham Kanting a well distinguished knight of the realm and member of the Knight’s Templar will always let you know when to look out for those.

The Silver Sovereign is hidden at a location somewhere in Kent and your Quest is to find it by piecing together the jigsaw of all 28 clues.

At the end of each week you can try to find the password to obtain each of four keys to the final location.

The daily clues will be issued at 6pm and you need to submit your first attempt at the seven answers each week by midnight on each Monday.

There will then be a weekly prize for the first person to get the most correct answers that week. But you can all press on into the next week regardless.

Then every 24 hours you are welcome to resubmit fresh attempts for any answers you got wrong previously.

The more correct answers you have by the end of the month will make it easier to solve the final location of the silver sovereign on or after the 1st March 2022.

Confused at any time about how it all works? Just drop me an email on alan.noake@kentscouts.org.uk and I will do all I can to help clarify things for you.

Your Quest formally begins at 6pm on 1st February 2022 and will end on 1st March 2022.

GOOD LUCK!

P.S. Please encourage others to take part – they can join the Quest anytime in February and catch up the days they have missed.

P.P.S. If you do solve the final location early please only share the answer with me privately so others can still enjoy the challenge!
