Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On Sunday 4 August, I'll be joining thousands of other riders to take part in Ride London, a 100 mile cycling event on closed roads that runs from the Olympic Park, out to Surrey, up a few ghastly-steep hills and then back to Central London. And I have to do all of it in eight and a half hours or less.
My training, beyond my cycle commute (around nine miles in total), has consisted of riding 130 miles overnight from Dulwich, London to Dunwich, Suffolk, on 13/14 July. It took considerably longer than eight and a half hours, but I was doing it on an 18kg, 5 gear bike with a basket on! I promise I'll be doing Ride London on my old 27 gear touring bike instead... otherwise I'll never get up those Surry hills!
Sustrans does great work up and down the UK to make it easier for people to travel on foot or by bike. I'm passionate about walking and cycling, and believe active travel makes a hugely positive difference to peoples' mental and physical health, so if you could spare some money to supporting the work of this brilliant charity, I'd really appreciate it.
