Story
This July, the Pullen Family will be undertaking The Mighty Boy Walk. With the disruptions of the last few months, we have not been sure the walk would be possible, but we know how desperate charities are for funding at the moment, so we have made the decision to go ahead for The Silas Pullen Fund (albeit in a watered down format and with social distancing at the forefront of our minds).
One of Silas's favourite songs was "500 miles" by The Proclaimers. He first heard this aged 4, late at night, at his godmother Natasha's wedding and, despite the hour, he danced and danced until he had to be dragged to bed by his exhausted parents. Over the following years, Silas danced to this song at every opportunity, mostly around the kitchen island with his brothers, and he would bellow out the words of the chorus. For us this song is inextricably linked to Silas and his madcap energy.
To mark what would be his 18th Birthday and his coming of age and to overcome the ageing knees of his parents, we plan on walking 500 miles between the five of us. To do this, each of us, Ben, Sarah, Oscar, Rufus and Inigo, will be walking 100 miles during the last week in July. We will start in Lydd and walk around the Kent Coast to Faversham and then home, knowing that Silas will be with us every step of the way.
It would be great if you could sponsor us as brain tumours continue to kill too many children and there are few treatment options. We want to help change this so that other families do not have to follow in our shoes.
As for Silas...we miss him every minute of every day.
A cure simply cannot wait......
