Story
I will be cycling 100Km through the night on a circular route from Windsor Race Course to Aldwych in Central London and back to raise funds for three women’s charities: Breast Cancer Care, Jo's Cervical Cancer Trust, and Ovarian Cancer Action.
I am cycling in memory of my mum Pam who lost her very courageous five year battle against Ovarian Cancer in 2009 at the age of 66. Ovarian Cancer affects more than 6,500 women in the UK each year. It is the fifth most common cancer among women. Ovarian Cancer Action is passionate about improving awareness and early detection of the disease and help to fund the Ovarian Cancer Action Research Centre at Imperial College. I have visited the laboratories at Imperial and have seen first hand the work of a dedicated team of scientists and what they are doing to prevent and to help people survive cancer. I don't want others to suffer like my mother did and this is something I can do to raise awarness of the work they do.
