Story
Over 12,000 people are diagnosed each year with a primary brain tumour, including 500 children and young people – that’s 33 people every day.
Over 5,300 people lose their lives to a brain tumour each year.
At least 88,000 children and adults are estimated to be living with a brain tumour in the UK currently. Yet just 1% of the national spend on cancer research has been allocated to this devastating disease.
I am fundraising for Brain Tumour Research by walking 10,000 steps a day in February, to give hope to families like mine, who have been affected by a brain tumour diagnosis.
My husband, Kris was diagnosed with a primary brain tumour in November. The news came as a huge shock to us all. He is awaiting surgery at Derriford hospital in the new year and while our lives are uncertain at present, his drive and determination to fight this has inspired me to get up and do something to make a difference.
Anyone who knows me, will know I’m no runner. Therefore, I’m challenging myself to walk 10,000 steps a day in February, to raise vital funds toward research. Niamh and Sienna will also be joining me on walks, where they can.
