Story
I have Endometriosis a condition that affects 1 in 10 women and I am 1 of many suffering. Waiting times are hurrendous! There is no cure and most of the treatment options result in surgery. The pain is not understood nor believed by all.
I have struggled in a bad way for the past 7 years but in particular spent the last 2/3 years unable to walk or have been bed bound taking at least 20-26 very strong pain killers a day. There have been some very dark days but I have got through the other side by fighting for what treatment option I believed was right.
After surgery in 2019 failed to ease pain I was put on gorselin injections to "slow down" my endometriosis however it didn't. I fought for a total hysterectomy at just 30 because the pain was so bad! My uterus felt like it was contracting at least ever 30seconds of every day. It felt like all if my insides had a knive stabbing them and my ovary was twisting. I became very thin didn't eat much, had to give up my job and struggled to enjoy anything in life.
I had endometriosis on my uterus, ovaries, bowel and even in my abdominal wall!
Endometriosis sufferers spend their lives like we are in constant lockdown and not enough is done!
My hysterectomy for me personally eased my pain but will not cure this disease. I am now able to walk hence why I am so keen to take on this challenge and give back to an amazing charity fighting for change.
I may be only 10 weeks post op at present but I am making the most of walking whilst I can. You just can't predict when it will strike again.
