Story
I am running the Bupa 10k again in memory of my mum who I miss very much. 21 years on since losing her and it saddens me that the survival rate for pancreatic cancer still hasn't improved from the shockingly low 3%. Despite this being the lowest survival rate of all cancers, research into this disease is poorly funded.
This year I am raising money for Pancreatic Cancer UK, an amazing charity fighting pancreatic cancer on all fronts: support, information, campaigning and research. I would really appreciate your support in raising as much as I can for this charity.
Below is some more info about what they do.
Thank you.
Sian xx
About us and our aims:
Following our Study for Survival in 2011, Pancreatic Cancer UK launched the Campaign for Hope which sets out two ambitious goals:
- - to double five-year pancreatic cancer survival rates
- - to change the NHS experience of pancreatic cancer patients from being one of the worst to one of the best
We run the UK's only pancreatic cancer-dedicated Support Line, staffed by our expert specialist nurses and provide comprehensive and detailed information about the disease, which meets The Information Standard.
We fund innovative research that makes the most impact and aids the development of new research talent in the field of pancreatic cancer.
We campaign to increase awareness of the disease, and bring about change for pancreatic cancer patients, by working closely with patients, families, carers, clinicians, healthcare professionals, researchers, politicians and policy makers.
