Fundraising for Cruse Bereavement Support
Fundraising for Cruse Bereavement Support
The walk happened on Sunday - a dry and cold day, seeing the moor looking beautiful. Nearly 300 people took part, and over £30,000 is likely to have been raised for a wide range of charities.
A very big thank you to everyone who has supported us. The chosen charity, Cruse Bereavement Care, will benefit to the tune of around £1,500, which will make a substantial difference to their ability to support people in need this year. In rural North Cornwall the stress of bereavement can be compounded by rural isolation. Cruse are there to lend a hand with practical matters, and to be a listening ear to the bereaved, as they track through the bewildering first weeks after the loss of a loved one. Cruse Bereavement Care exists to promote the well-being of bereaved people and to enable anyone bereaved by death to understand their grief and cope with their loss. Services are free to bereaved people. The charity provides support and offers information, advice, education and training services.
We chose to support this charity, because the costs of volunteer support in North Cornwall are much greater than elsewhere because of the distances covered. This is a charity that doesn’t always get the attention that more major national charities do, and we wanted to use this opportunity to make people aware of their services, and to enable the volunteers working in North Cornwall to continue their good work.
We very much value the sponsorship that you have generously given us. All the money raised will be used to support Cruse’s work in North Cornwall. Gift Aid has significantly added to the proceeds for the charity.
Thank you for your support for us, and the work of Cruse Bereavement Care.
