Hi, I'm Sam, age 12, and this is my Mum, Shuna. We are both swimming in the Great North Swim in Lake Windermere on the 10th June, along with some of my mum's work colleagues from Sheffield Young Carers. 

Last year we both signed up to the 250metres but the weather was so bad the race was cut short (we still got medals and t-shirts though!), so we're aiming to do it again this year. I haven't swum half as much this year though so I need to get training!

My mum signed up to the 2 miles last year, but this was cut short to 1.5 miles. This year, my mum wasn't able to train for over four months because of a shoulder injury so she will just be doing the 1 mile (I'll get there one day!).

Sheffield Young Carers offers support to children and young people aged 8-25 who live in Sheffield are young carers or are affected by drug and alcohol issues in their family (now or in the past). We provide support through one-to-one work, group support, trips, holidays, and support with education, employment, and training.
