Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Many of my friends and family's lives have been touched by Cancer and other serious illnesses during my life time, particularly in the last 3-4 years. Some have fought bravely and lost, others thankfully are winning, each one of their stories is different, and each takes it toll not only on them but also the people around them.
I have been through my own personal battle with depression over the last 3 years, it has been a hard and lonely road which has had many effects on my life but I'm please to say with the support of my Husband, family and a few close friends I'm well on my way to recovery. However during this time I have gone from a size 10 to a size 18, putting on a whopping 7 stone. So this is why I have chosen to take part in the Hospice of St Francis Biggest Loser Challenge 2013. I'll be shedding lbs whilst hopefully raising £s for an amazing charity.
The Hospice of St Francis combine the best possible medical support for patients with emotional support and care of the spirit. Their team of highly trained doctors and nurses and other professionals including a supportive care team, chaplain, complementary therapists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists and caterers work together with a huge band of volunteers to ensure the best experience possible for patients and those close to them when time is precious.
They care for patients with a wide range of life threatening illnesses – cancer, heart disease, lung disease and neurological illness.
The Hospice of St Francis have teamed up with Dacorum Sportspace and Nutrition4life to provide 20 Biggest Loser contestants with 3 months of specialist nutritional support, personal training sessions, group exercise classes and other exciting challenges to help us acheive our weight-loss goals whilst in exchange we raise money for them to continue their inspirational work.
