Story
I'm not doing anything excessive or extravagant here, just trying to convince the body of an out of shape, has-been of an archer, living on former glories and bravado to shoot for as long as he can.
Northants Archery, of which I am a member are running a Dawn 'til Dusk shoot, starting at 6 am on Saturday 17th July with the shoot going on until 9pm that night.
In fact, I know I won't make it though the whole 15 hours - I've got to go to a wedding in the afternoon so there's a fairly definite end to this for me - but I wanted to do my bit and to try to raise as much as I can in honour of a lovely, kind and generous man - Chris Mason.
Chris was a bigger, and a better man than I will ever be. A genuinely gentle giant who lost his battle with cancer and left a (fairly big) hole in the lives of all who knew him. It was my pleasure to have known Chris for a few years and to have had a laugh (and a moan) with him right up until he passed away.
For those of you who love the facts & figures, I reckon I'll be dragging my cumbersome frame for c. 2 miles up and down a field far too early on a Saturday morning and pulling around 6.5 tonnes on my withered fingers as I try to shoot about 24 dozen arrows somewhere near the middle of a 4' wide target. Who knows, I may do a few more but it's definitely gonna hurt!
Please give generously to help other take on the fight that Chris so sadly lost.
