Story
Around 4 years ago I hurt my back. No big deal, but since then, I have let my health and fitness suffer and used it as an excuse. Despite having a son to run after and a dog to walk, I have definitely let things go. It is time to get in shape and to kickstart things, I am taking up a challenge of 30 days of yoga and plank. At the end of the 30 days, I will be entering my longest plank into the Elephant EPIC Plank Challenge, but in the meantime, I am working on a series of increasingly challenging Plank exercises each day. I am coupling this with 30 days of yoga, with thanks you Yoga with Adriene, to ensure that my whole body gets stronger and leaner to cope with the planking!
I work for Game Rangers International, supported by founding partners, the David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation. Based in Zambia, GRI have recently opened a Wildlife Discovery Centre in the heart of Lusaka National Park. This centre is home to the elephant nursery, where young elephants who have been displaced from their mother and herd through poaching or human-wildlife conflict. The nursery is the first step in our release programme which can take up to 15 years.
The unique and immersive Wildlife Discovery Centre will also provide free conservation education to over 5,000 children living in Zambia and attending underfunded schools, who may never have seen an elephant, never mind understand the benefit of a thriving and diverse eco system. Education is the answer to conserving our wildlife and wild spaces and this centre showcases Zambia’s natural wealth which will increase environmental awareness and inspire greater conservation stewardship from the next generation.
I would really appreciate your help in raising some funds to support this new centre and GRI as a whole!
