Story
Hi everyone :) thank you for visiting my page. It may come as a shock to a lot of you to hear that I am running a marathon considering my luck with my knees and the fact that I am so not a runner. But it is happening! After suffering two serious knee injuries, I am determined to complete the Brighton Marathon on the 2nd of April with my best friend, Fi. It all started at the end of 2nd year of uni when Fi and I joked about how crazy it would be to run a marathon during our placement year... well now the joke's on us as the marathon is fast approaching!
I have chosen to run the marathon for the amazing British Heart Foundation as it means a lot to me. For those that don't know, my Dad was diagnosed with a life-threatening heart condition which resulted in him having major heart surgery in 2020. However, due to Covid, we weren't able to be with him at all during the time he spent in hospital. Not being able to be with a loved one when they need you the most is heartbreaking. This was especially tough when we stood outside the hospital on his birthday to be as close to him as possible, Face Timing him to let him know we were there. As hard as not being able to be with him was, it could have been a whole lot worse if his heart condition hadn't been diagnosed at all, for which I am so thankful for.
While I am not at all a runner, I am so determined to run and FINISH this marathon as a challenge for myself and to be able to give back to such a great charity that helped save my Dad's life. The British Heart foundation have the ability to help other families be as lucky as I was with their amazing research and a little help from all of you will go a long way. So, this is now where I ask all of you amazing people to donate towards this great cause in order to help the discovery of new treatments and cures. Any and all donations would be appreciated as well as any messages of encouragement to help Fi and I get through this marathon (we will need all the help we can get)!
I am running for you Dad and how grateful I am that you are still here with us, and I hope to make you proud x
Thank you everyone, so much love! xox
