Story
Thank you for supporting my fundraising in aid of ActionAid. ActionAid is an international charity that works with women and girls living in poverty. Their dedicated local staff are changing the world with women and girls. They are ending violence and fighting poverty so that all women, everywhere, can create the future they want.
The 137 challenge runs through the month of October. I will complete 137 sit-ups, squats, or step-ups per day for one month and fundraise to help end violence against women and girls. Being super unfit this is going to be a massive challenge for me, so please make it worthwhile and donate to the cause.
Why 137?
One in three women will experience some form of violence in their lifetime, and 137 women are killed per day by a partner or family member.
But across the world, women and girls are fighting to claim their rights and change the systems and beliefs that make violence acceptable. ActionAid is working with communities to prevent and respond to violence and create long-term change. Your support could help survivors seek justice and fund women's groups who train parents, teachers, local police and legal advisors to recognise the signs of violence and report it.
We need your help now more than ever. As Covid-19 has spread around the world, health and economic stresses increase and we're seeing an alarming rise in global cases of domestic violence. - I’ve seen this personally in hospitals as more and more women are presenting with violent injuries . It’s devastating.
