On June 14 – 15 , 11 adventurous individuals from the KPMG Business Intelligence Team will be take part in the Three Peaks Challenge in an effort to raise £5,000 for the Barnardo’s Charity. This is however impossible without the generous support of friends, family and colleagues – like yourself!
The hard part - starting from Fort William in Scotland, participants will walk up to 22 miles with a total ascent of 9700 feet – all within 24 hours, ending in Wales. Now for the easy part - there are endless opportunities to lend your support to this challenge by volunteering to drive, being a member of the support team, helping with the organisation of this event and of course by donating! This Just Giving page is the perfect opportunity to allow you to support a great cause and contribute towards our fundraising target.
The National Three Peaks Challenge is a well known phrase amongst the more adventurous. This challenge involves walking the highest mountains in Scotland, England and Wales within 24 hours. For this challenge we will raise money for the Barnardo’s Charity.
It is never too late to support this worthwhile cause. The main challenge however is being able to transform the lives of children and young people suffering from sexual abuse, domestic violence, disabilities and poverty. Please join us in supporting this cause in an effort to make a positive contribution towards the future generation.
So please dig deep and donate now!
Barnardo’s works with over 180,000 children, young people and their families, each year. We run 800 community projects across the UK, with services including counselling for children who have been abused, fostering and adoption, vocational training and support work with disability and exclusion groups. Here are a few examples of how your donation will make a difference:
£5 - would buy a kettle for a Mum and baby living in bed and breakfast accommodation so she can heat baby food properly
£10 - will pay for an emergency wash and personal care kit for a young person who is homeless.
£15 - could help provide a bus fare to get to Barnardo’s, and then a first meal, to a young girl escaping sexual exploitation
£25- pays for 2 hours of play for a terminally ill child
£30 - will light up the world for an autistic child. This gift provides lights for a multi-sensory room, where disabled and autistic children can enjoy stimulating sound, touch & light experiences
£50 - pays for a day out at a place like the zoo for a young carer and their friend.
£100 – provides two frightened or abused children with a safe roof over their heads for two weeks
