Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I will be running the Bristol Half marathon in September and I was going to just take part in the event but following events of the past week, I would like it to be for mental health charity MIND in Somerset.
Just over a week ago, we heard the sad news that Yeovil Town's club captain had died. At just 32, it shook everyone associated with the club and everyone is going through a period of mourning. I have barely stopped thinking about Lee and his poor family since that fateful day and the circumstances of his death are all too familiar for young men in this country.
I work as a commentator/co-commentator for BBC Somerset and Bristol but first and foremost, I am a Yeovil Town fan. I hope the Glovers family will support this cause so we can help prevent these tragic cases happening. I met Lee a number of times and was always so impressed by his determination on the pitch but also his support to others. After my first match on the microphone as stadium announcer, he told me I had done a great job - something he didn't need to, having just played 90 minutes.
I am so sad he felt there was no other way out. I hope the money raised for Mind Somerset can help those who find themselves in a similar headspace.
RIP Lee, you will always be our number 4 and you will always be our captain.
