Thank you for visiting my fund raising page. I am raising funds for the Roy Castle Lung Cancer foundation by running the 2023 London Marathon in memory of my mum.
My Mum aged 61, who was a healthy active non-smoker and drinker was diagnosed with inoperable stage 4 lung cancer that had spread to her bones on new year’s eve of 2021 and unfortunately died 3 months later on April 1st 2022, two weeks before my twins were born.
Her diagnosis was completely missed due to Covid and after having a lingering cough over a number of weeks was advised she had asthma. I want to raise awareness of this awful disease that can affect all ages and gender, and how it can destroy families. My Mum was the heart of our family and her loss will be felt by us forever.
If raising money for this particular charity can save just one family from going through this then it’s certainly worth all the training and miles and 3 months of no red wine!!
Every year I enter through the ballot but since the loss of my dear Mum I want to run the 2023 London Marathon to support and fundraise for the Roy Castle Lung Cancer foundation to help cure and aid in research and help support those who are affected as well as their families. I feel proud and honoured to be running such an iconic race and be part of the Roy Castle charity team.
