Hope for Justice exists to bring an end to modern slavery by preventing exploitation, rescuing victims, restoring lives and reforming society. 

I work directly with survivors of trafficking/modern slavery as an Independent Modern Slavery Advocate (IMSA) for Hope for Justice. Trafficking and modern slavery is quite possibly one of the most heinous and evil crimes I have ever had the experience of understanding. The survivors I work with, who have been rescued from trafficking and modern slavery, are able to move forward with their lives with the specialist advocacy help an IMSA is able to provide. The team I work with are trained lawyers and social workers who are able to navigate the complex UK criminal and civil legal systems and government systems. Without the help of the IMSA, many survivors would be left without access to justice from their traffickers, with crippling debts, criminal records, unable to access government assistance, unable to claim any type of compensation, unable to access the correct mental health support for the trauma they have faced and much much more. The professional support is often the only way a survivor can resolve a crisis and move into a long term sustainable life.

I love working for Hope for Justice who are an international charity. The story below is representative of many of the survivors that Hope for Justice rescue and restore abroad. 

Hope for Justice help people like sisters Letu* and Chaltu*, who grew up in a poor family on a farm in western Ethiopia. They were offered an amazing opportunity for a new life in the capital, with education, food and accommodation. But it was a lie the sisters were heartlessly separated. Letu was put to work as a domestic maid and farmhand, Chaltu sent to be a full-time nanny. An argument between their new owners led to them being kicked out onto the streets of Addis Ababa. They were found later in nearby woods, barely surviving. Thankfully, they were brought to Hope for Justices Lydia Lighthouse. They got counselling and one-to-one support. Soon after the sisters were reunited with their family. "I lost two children in one day, and now I have them back", their mother said. "Thank you for saving my children."(Names changed to protect identity)

I am dedicating my Trek to Fight Trafficking to my late sister, Marie. Marie suffered oppression and injustice and was a victim of abuse. Her experience led directly to her death in 2009 and is the reason I studied Law and am now an Independent Modern Slavery Advocate. I would like to raise £10,000 to represent the 10 years since her death.
