Edinburgh Marathon Festival Full Marathon 2017 · 28 May 2017 ·
On 28 May 2017 I will be taking part in the Edinburgh Marathon to raise money for Coeliac UK. The reason I am doing this is very simple; I am a Coeliac, and was diagnosed with this autoimmune condition in 2013. I am diagnosed with microscopic colitis; this is an inflammatory bowel disease linked to Coeliac disease.
Coeliac disease is an autoimmune condition where the body attacks itself when Gluten is included in the diet; the disease cannot be cured, the only thing that a person suffering with coeliac disease can do is follow a strict 'Gluten Free' diet!
Coeliac UK do not recieve any official funding and rely on the support of the general public to help them provide support and advice to people suffering from Coeliac disease. I am a member of Coeliac UK and have benefited immensely from their website, mobile Apps, etc. Coeliac UK also have local groups that meet on a regular basis to provide more support and advice to members on various issues; they also arrange social events and other fundraising events.
I'm aiming to raise as much money as possible to ensure Coeliac UK can continue to provide people with all the support and assistance in dealing with this 'lifelong' condition.
