Story
To be clear from the start, I am the runner of the household, my wife 'Shell' is not. I have done a few marathons. Shell, has not. I like to go running regularly and enjoy it. Shell would rather go to the gym. However, Shell does love to help people and will do what she can to achieve this. She has therefore (as a non-runner) signed up to run a 10km course in Guatemala going up some serious hills in the hope of raising money for others.
Therefore, I am asking that if you are not 'cashed out' and have any funds left (5$?) after any generous contributions you have made to Aussie drought relief, bushfire relief, flood relief and the like, then you may consider sponsoring Michelle to do this run.
Yes, myself and others will be undertaking a marathon but this is entirely different. We like running, so that would be asking for sponsorship for something we like to do. If you sponsor Shell, then you will be sponsoring her to do something that she does not relish and is not easy for her. (For her 10km is her own marathon) No money will be going to us, we will be paying our own way and donating a box of equipment for the local school. I have put a little excerpt below (that I have shamelessly plagerised) on what the charities are that we will be supporting.
Thank you
Rob
The Impact
The charities that we will be working with, are SERES and Caras Alegres. These are both grassroot charities who are combatting the inequality that unfortunately runs through the country from supporting ostracised indigenous communities, to the challenge of inspiring a new generation to be young leaders.
SERES get involved in community projects to do with climate change and displacement as a result of volcanic eruptions among other things.
