Story
Since 1988, St Luke’s has been providing palliative care to local people, supporting them in ways which go beyond the scope and funding of the NHS. Last year we supported over 1,000 local people with a huge range of support from end of life care on our ward to supporting carers, and from helping children cope with grief to helping patients return to work after an illness. We are a charity and provide all our care for free, so we rely on the generosity and commitment of our supporters to raise more than 80% of our costs.
With great sadness we have recently had to say goodbye to the most incredible woman that each of us taking part have ever had the pleasure of knowing. It is for this reason that for our Nan we will be taking part in the KAPOW event to raise money for the amazing St. Luke's Hospice on the 1st October 2017.
The staff at St. Luke's made sure that she was comfortable and was pain free so her passing was very calm and peaceful. The hospice became a second home to us all and we were treated with such kindness and we cannot thank them enough.
We will all be extremely proud to raise as much money as possible to be able to give back to a charity that made the most unbearable time bearable.
'She made broken look beautiful and strong look invincible. She walked with the universe on her shoulders and made it look like a pair of wing's'
We are so proud to be able to call you a mum, nan and grandma and we are not quite sure how this family is going to cope without your wisdom and unconditional love. Thanks for filling it with enough to last a lifetime...
From all of us who will be forever proud to be Pauline's family from her two daughter's, 6 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and everyone else who had the absolute pleasure of being part of her incredible life, THANK YOU!! Xxxx
