We are raising funds for a prize to celebrate the contribution made by Sheila Nimmo to the profession of nursing. The Sheila Nimmo Prize for Professionalism in Nursing will be awarded annually to the Abertay student who demonstrates a consistently high level of professionalism.
After qualifying as a nurse, in 1981 Sheila moved into nurse education in 1995. Over the subsequent years she held posts at both Abertay and Dundee Universities. She also worked for NHS Tayside, and carried out project work for National Health Service Education for Scotland.
She was best known for her knowledge , wisdom and skill as an educator . Her most significant contributions were made at Abertay where she developed and led programmes for pre and post registration students.
Sheila was an innovator who enjoyed working with students and staff. An excellent teacher, she modelled professionalism in all aspects of her working life. She was an excellent colleague and a great friend. Always fun to be around and always there to help.
