Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I first was involved with Alabare over 20years ago in 1999 when I was a volunteer sleepover at Damascus House. I appreciated the incredible work that they did with the homeless and it was why I chose them as my charity when I was Mayor of Salisbury in 2006 -2007. The people of Salisbury helped me to raise over £64,000 for a Drop in Centre in the new building for the Homeless. I initiated the first Sleep Out in the Cathedral Cloisters and have slept out every five years since then. One year it was - 4 degrees!
I promised to Sleep Out this year after my 80th birthday but because of the pandemic it has to be a Big Sleep at Home. I have chosen to go out and sleep in one of our cellars. I think more uncomfortable than the Cloisters and more lonely. I hope there is not any four legged company!
I have arranged for a carer known to Michael my husband to be in the house to look after him.
Please help me to support Alabare. The deadly COVID disease has meant more people losing their homes, also mental health issues are increasing. Alabare has grown over the years yet still maintained their reputation for excellent services. They urgently need funds but there is very limited opportunity to fund raise. Please support me to help them help the homeless.
