Story
Dear Friends,
Some days it feels like only yesterday that I was holding Matthew. There were so many ways I held him, and I loved them all.
Matthew came to us from the hospital in a cast from his chest to his toes. It was like holding a board.
He had the cast for several months. I remember the weight.
After the cast, he couldn’t walk or sit up without support, so I had to hold on to him when he sat on his own or just hold him. When he went swimming, I took him from his wheelchair and held him in the water.
When he was 3, we tried using leg braces and I held him while he got used to them. He didn’t like them and he never got used to them.
I remember Matt and how much I loved holding him while I walk for The Easterseals/Matthew V. Joslin Fund. It’s a special time for me.
The Matthew Fund helps kids and adults with disabilities overcome barriers that stop them from doing what they want to do.
Thank you so much for supporting me and The Matthew Fund.
Love,
Sheila
