Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

We are writing to ask if you would be willing to sponsor our team: “The Great Ascenders(Paula Sullivan, Cristina Dias, Sarah Ross, Alison Lashwood and Shehla Mohammed). We are joining forces to raise funds for an amazing Charity: Noah’s Ark Children's Hospice: (www.noahsark hospice.org.ukin their Coronavirus Appeal.

Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice play a crucial role in supporting seriously ill babies and children with life-limiting conditions by enabling their parents and families to be supported to make the most of their special time together.

These are exceedingly difficult times for many of us, but none more so than for the children whose weak immune systems leave them extremely vulnerable and at very high risk of contracting the COVID-19 virus.

Whilst their families will be doing all they can to shield these children, Noah’s Ark Hospice is facing its own unprecedented times and is facing a shortfall of over £2 million in lost income due to the postponement or cancellation of a huge number of fundraising activities, which is set to significantly impact on their care for these seriously sick children.

To help these children, we have formed our “Great Ascenders team.
We are a go-getting, energetic group of (relatively young and some not so young!!) doctors and nurses who have spent many years looking after children with life-shortening conditions and have decided to undertake the “Noah’s Ark - Step the Globe Challenge”:  a ‘virtual’
trek up mountains to raise funds to support the Charity.

As we are an ambitious AND stubborn team, we will not be content with a virtual climb up just one or two mountains, but will tackle five of the world’s great challenges: Machu Picchu, Mount Kilimanjaro, Mont Blanc, Everest Base Camp and the UK’s Three Peaks Trek (a mere 246 miles = 585,250 steps).

So we ask that you please be as generous as your current circumstances will allow and support us in this quest to help the children and their families at the hospice. To know that we have the support of so many friends and family will help our blistered feet enormously!

Thank you so much: this will be a tremendous help to the Noah’s Ark children and their families.
