Story
This page has been started by University of Sheffield Rugby
League Club to raise money to help the fight against cancer and raise awareness
in honour of the late father (Sabu Thomas) of one of our members.
Sabu’s story:
My Dad had complaints about pain in his right arm from December
2021 which was brushed off thinking it wasn’t anything to serious; after being
urged by my Mum to go see a Doctor they found and abnormality on the right side
of his lungs after doing a CT scan my dad was diagnosed with Lung Cancer on the
5th January. From here we proceeded with treatment such as
chemotherapy, radiotherapy, immunotherapy with no avail. The next 11 months of
our lives was filled with many visits to the hospital where my dad battled with
cancer as his condition deteriorated. From multiple admissions to the hospital
we were warned by doctors each time that this could be our dad’s final days.
Despite the odds being against him he fought to the very end.
By running the Sheffield Half-marathon on the 26th of
March we’re hoping to raise money for Cancer research and help raise awareness helping
people and families who are dealing with the same struggles.
