Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On 28th June 2014, I will be walking along the Grand Union Canal from Watford, with my colleagues, Sam, Diane, Beth, Jenny and Liz and hopefully arriving in Bletchley (almost the Midlands!) some 50km (and about 12 hours….) later.

The reason I am doing this is to raise money for Home-Start Dacorum, a charity I care passionately about. My association with Home-Start started over 20 years ago, when I was a volunteer and I experienced first hand the invaluable support that this charity provides to families who are struggling with the demands of young children. I had a young family myself at that time and I could really appreciate the many challenges and difficulties that could arise from time to time.

Many years later I have become involved with the charity again, as a trustee and I continue to be impressed by the dedication and commitment of the staff and volunteers involved in Home-Start Dacorum and the invaluable support they continue to provide families in need.

When I was asked by Sam to consider walking 50km along the Grand Union Canal, despite being apprehensive about the challenge of walking such a distance (almost 32 miles!)  in one day, I didn't hesitate to say yes, as I know how important such events are for Home-Start to enable them to continue their valuable work.

I am hoping to raise £500 and any amount of support would be really appreciated.

Thank you so much…..Sheena
