Story
Hi
Thank you so much for taking the time to read my page. My name is Shaylee Boger and I have Pompe disease. My life with Pompe has been a unique one, but I wouldn’t trade it for the world.
My diagnostic journey with Pompe, as many of you might know, started April of 2013. I would go onto spend the next 11 months having tests ran, a surgery and seeing countless doctors before I was given the diagnosis of Pompe disease.
As my journey with Pompe has continued, I have had several surgeries in order to maintain my current level of function. My team and I have agreed the next part of my journey with Pompe disease should include having a mobility service dog. This highly specialized dog will be trained by Little Angels Service Dogs to help with counterbalance, and non-protective boundary control, which will help me navigate crowds without falling over people.
When researching the best way to receive a service dog for me, there was a lot of research done. We decided an Assistance Dog International (ADI) accredited organization was the best fit for me and my life goals, including traveling. Little Angels is a 501(3)c organization which means they rely on 100% of donations to function. In order to help Little Angels place more dogs with people like me, I am fundraising with a goal of $38,000 to cover the cost of a dog for a recipient. By fundraising for them, I am helping them accomplish their goal of placing a service dog with as many eligible disabled people that they can. Thank you for reading this and if you feel moved to, please consider making a donation, because without donors Little Angels would cease to function. Donations can be made using the link or mail to Little Angels Service Dogs Post Office Box 219 Jamul, CA 91935 with the memo "AM-BO-SB"
