Story

Firstly thank you for taking a look at our just giving page.

I am sure you are all wondering what would make two good friends want to fight each other. Well, the thing is myself and Emmid have done it all before... so we are just giving the people what they want!! Only this time in honour of a young boy, we both had the privilege to coach Gaelic football too.

Mark Colgan was a fun loving, Gaelic and hurling mad teenager, who was unfortunately taken away from us in 2014.

I often find it hard to think of words to describe Mark, as I knew two sides to him. There was the quiet, calm, polite and helpful wee boy, I would often see around our club helping tidy up the grounds or supporting the senior team. Every club has one of those kids that is as much a part of place as the club house and pitch. That was Mark for me.

Then there was Mark the corner back, a throw back to old GAA players, none of this fancy carry on, as strong as a bull and harder than the road, but a true little gentleman on the field.

Emmid and I were afforded the privilege of coaching a combined U12 Tullylish/Aghaderg team, which Mark was a valued member off. We thankfully managed to win the league that season, which at the time we probably never really appreciated that achievement. It was only after Mark's sudden passing that we really started to take pride in it, we now cherish the memory of that success and especially the smile on Mark's face as he celebrated with the rest of his team.

So in memory of Mark, we will be raising our gloves and money for the Northern Ireland Children's Hospice.
